Daily photo session of Portrait of Lisa Gherardini
(aka Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci) at the Louvre, Paris.

We human beings are a peculiar lot! When we encounter in person what we have known only through photo-reproductions, our impulse is to take a picture! What great irony that we squander this precious moment, more poorly reproducing what is already well documented and in the public domain. Perhaps it is that the psychology of taking a photograph allows us to feel we are taking a part of the object being photographed and thereby touching celebrity.
